iTunes uses Bonjour for various tasks it carries out. For instance, it uses the program for locating ‘Shared Music Libraries’, devices for streaming music to and so forth. Safari, Apple’s own web browser uses the same program for finding devices advertising web pages on your network. On the other hand, Internet Explorer via Bonjour toolbar plugin offers easy mode of discovery for Bonjour – advertised web pages. Moreover, Bonjour Printer Setup Wizard makes use of Bonjour application to discover and configure Bonjour advertised network printers.

If you happen to install iTunes, you will find that installs Bonjour Windows Service, a Zero Configuration Networking process and mDNSResponder.exe. Often iTunes is bundled along with other software and installed on the user’s computer, without the user’s knowledge. If you don’t use Bonjour or any of its features, then removing Bonjour shouldn’t cause any issue however, in some cases it is known to cause so. Here are the steps you can follow for more thoroughly uninstalling Bonjour.
Remove Bonjour from Windows
Firstly, if you have any Apple software installed on your computer such as iTunes there’s a high likelihood that there’s already a Bonjour folder residing under ‘Program Files’ section. On most occasions, the service starts automatically and runs a process named mDNSResponder.exewhich cannot be killed by Windows Task Manager.
You will, in most cases, be able to uninstall the program via Control Panel – but in some cases, this may fail! Hence, a safe method described here to uninstall and remove the Bonjour service and files – mDNSResponder.exe and mdnsNSP.dll.
Press Win + R keyboard keys in combination, to bring up the ‘Run’ dialog box. Next, type the following command and hit OK. Alternatively open an elevated CMD and do it.
To unregister the dll file, open a command prompt window, as an administrator, type the following and hit Enter.
Restart your computer, go to C:Program Files and delete the Bonjour folder.
iTunes and some other programs need Bonjour to function. If you use these programs, do NOT remove Bonjour!Make sure you have administrator privileges before executing these commands.

Not helpful. Uninstaller does not work, because some installer file is missing from Users~UserTemp folder is missing. I do not know what this means, but it is very annoying, because iTunes cannot be installed now.

While the question may be old by some arbitrary standard, it was never properly answered, and is still relevant at least to me.

The Mac operating system is automatically configured to check for and download software updates once per week. A notification message appears when updates are available to install. If the Apple Software Update feature is not automatically downloading updates on your Mac, you can manually attempt to download the update, or download a stand-alone update installer from Apple. If the updater application is corrupt, reset your Mac or reinstall the operating system to repair the program.
Check Connections and Reboot
Your Mac must be connected to the Internet to download updates. If the Software Update tool fails, the first thing to do is make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet. Check your Internet connection from another device to verify that your router is getting an external connection. Reboot the Mac to ensure that all applications are closed, and then attempt a manual update.
Manually Update
To manually update your Mac, open the System Preferences dialog box from the Apple menu, and then click “Software Update.” All available updates are listed in the Software Update dialog box. Check each update to apply, click the “Install” button and enter the administrator username and password to allow the updates. Restart the computer, if prompted.
Stand-Alone Update
If you cannot use the Software Update tool from OS X, you can download stand-alone updates from the Apple site. Each update is provided with its own installer as a stand-alone version in case users experience problems with the Software Update tool. If issues with the Software Update tool cannot be resolved, you can apply hotfixes and patches by applying stand-alone updates. To download a stand-alone update for your Mac, open the Apple Support Downloads site (link in Resources), and select the update to install. Download and apply the update, then restart the computer, if prompted.
Reset Mac
Macs running OS X have a recovery partition installed on the hard drive. You can reset your Mac’s OS to factory default settings by running recovery options at start-up. Power off the Mac, and the press and hold “Command-R” during the startup process when you reboot. The Recovery menu displays. To refresh your operating system files, including the Software Update tool, select the “Reset” option in the Recovery menu. Follow the prompts to reset your Mac. After the reset is finished, boot up the computer, and then run the Software Update tool. Note that your files and settings are not deleted during the reset process.

Download amelinha 1998 amelinha. iTunes 12 repair and installation errors on Windows 10 are fixed by uninstalling Outlook and all Apple software with Revo uninstaller pro and re-install all components in a certain order. Download iTunes 12. The system requirements for iTunes 12.2 for Windows say ‘Windows 7 or later‘. Hence, iTunes 12 for Windows is working on Windows 10, if it is properly installed. This fix also applies to iTunes 12 on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and is similar to the fix of iCloud for Windows installation errors.
Outlook 2013 interaction with iTunes 12 on Windows 10
Reinstall Apple Software Update Windows 10
The uninstallation of Outlook is mandatory, also the removal of all Apple software components and artefacts from the Windows PC. There’s obviously an interaction between Outlook and iTunes on Windows during installation of iTunes. I got this message while installing iTunes 12.3 on Windows 10, Outlook 2013 has already been installed before:
‘Outlook is currently running on this computer. If you proceed without quitting Outlook, it is highly recommended that you restart Outlook after installation.’
If you can’t install or update iTunes for Windows, you maybe got one of these error messages:
- ‘A problem occured on this windows installer package, a program necessary for this installation to complete could not be executed, contact your support service or the distributor.’
- ‘Package required to install could not be run.’
- ‘An error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft… Please, refer to Help and Support to more information .RESULT 0x80073715‘
- ‘Error during assembly: Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type=”win32″, version=”8.0.50727.6195″, publicKeyToken”…”, processorArchitecture=”amd64″. HRESULT: 0x80073715.’
- ‘Service ‘Apple Mobile Device Service’ (Apple Mobile Device Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.’
First, try to repair the iTunes installation:
- Open Control Panel > Uninstall Programs
- Right click on Apple Software Update > Repair
- Try Install iTunes 12.3
If this didn’t work remove and reinstall all apple software according to the following section.
I had the same problem while installing iTunes on Windows 10, getting the first mentioned error message. Here’s how I resolved it:
- Uninstall Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016 completely from your Windows PC. Note: If you got an Office 365, uninstall it completely including Outlook.
- Sign out from iCloud for Windows.
- Reboot your Windows PC.
- Download and install Revo Uninstaller Pro. There’s a 30-days free trial that works, too.
- Open Revo Uninstaller Pro and uninstall completely every single Apple software program (iTunes, iCloud for Windows, Apple software updater, Apple mobile device support, Apple’s Bonjour and Apple Application Support).iTunes 12 installation errors on Windows 10_01_uninstall all Apple software with Revo uninstaller proiTunes 12 installation errors on Windows 10_02_uninstall iTunes for Windows 10 with Revo uninstaller proiTunes 12 installation errors on Windows 10_03_delete leftover registry items of itTunes for Windows 10 with Revo uninstaller pro
- Reboot your Windows PC.
- After that, install Outlook or Office 365 again.
- Reboot your Windows PC.
- Make a fresh download of iTunes 12 for Windows and install it.
- Reboot your Windows PC.
- Open iTunes 12 for Windows and sign in using your Apple ID and password. Note: If you got 2-step-authentication activated you do not need an app specific password! Done!
Notes:
- Please take care of the order of the steps!
- Based on my findings the use of Revo Uninstaller is elementary to uninstall the all Apple software really completely. If it is not removed completely, the fix will not work.
- Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later): On some systems, iTunes might install two versions of Apple Application Support. This is expected. If both are present, be sure to uninstall both versions.
iTunes 12 for Windows 10 repair and installation failures are fixed by uninstalling Outlook and all Apple related software including iTunes, iCloud for Windows, Apple software updater, Apple mobile device support, Apple’s Bonjour and (two versions of) Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later) with Revo Uninstaller Pro.
Stay tuned! ?
